Hetrick-Martin Institute (HMI), the nation’s oldest and largest youth LGBTQ youth service organization, honors individuals and corporations that work to create a safe and supportive environment for all young people regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity.

HMI was founded in 1979 as a response to violence against homeless LGBTQ youth in New York City, and offers comprehensive academic, cultural, career and health programming, as well as other supportive youth services.

The 2013 Emery Awards brought together prominent LGBT advocates and allies serving as HMI Ambassadors. The Awards ceremony was held on November 13 at New York City’s Cipriani Wall Street.
